★ 過去完了形とは？
形：
had + 過去分詞（過去分詞は動詞の3番目の形）
例：
I had eaten breakfast before I left the house. （家を出る前に朝ごはんを食べていた）
★ 使う場面：
過去のある時点より「さらに前に起こったこと」を表すときに使うよ。
① 過去の出来事の順番をはっきりさせたいとき
She had finished her homework before her friend arrived. （友達が来る前に宿題を終えていた）
② 過去の経験を語るとき
I had never seen a shooting star before that night. （その夜まで流れ星を見たことがなかった）
③ 過去の原因や理由を説明するとき
He was tired because he had worked all day. （彼は疲れていた。なぜなら一日中働いていたから）
★ 過去形との違い：
過去形は「過去に起こったこと」をただ述べるだけ。過去完了形は「過去のある時点より前に起こったこと」を強調する。
比較：
I ate lunch at 1 p.m.（過去形）
I had eaten lunch before the meeting started.（過去完了形）
よく使う表現：
before（〜の前に）
after（〜の後に）
when（〜したとき）
by the time（〜する時までに）
already / never / just（完了のニュアンスを強調）
